A Brief Summary of Procedural Safeguards
Parents of children with disabilities from the ages three (3) to twenty-one (21) have specific educational rights under the Individuals with Disabilities Act (IDEA.) These rights are called procedural safeguards. Individuals serving as surrogate parents and students aged eighteen (18) receiving special education services, are also entitled to these rights.
